Arnold’s work is based on sound draughtsmanship, incorporating a fair degree of detail. Although having painted all over the British Isles and the Mediterranean, it was a chance occurrence that led to him recording the changing scene in the Port of Belfast and in the decaying grandeur of the Shipyard, subjects that now make up the bulk of his output. His large paintings have been particularly attractive to both corporate and private clients in the Port area and in 2005 he had a sell-out solo exhibition of 60 such paintings. Arnold is also a member of the Arts Society of Ulster and has exhibited in the annual exhibition of the Royal Ulster Academy on a number of occasions.
