Bohdan was born in London of Polish parents who came to England as refugees at the end of WWII. He moved to Ireland in 1974 after marrying a Co. Antrim girl. He is 'self taught', taking up watercolours in 1991 and joining the Ulster University Art Group, exhibiting both at the University and various galleries in Northern Ireland. In 1994 a serious accident, in which his hand was severely damaged, curtailed his painting and he decided to move to Co. Donegal.
In 2002 an invitation to exhibit in the North West Exhibition in Sligo galvanized him into painting full time again, participating in many more exhibitions such as the Glebe Gallery in Churchill, Co Donegal, where he lives with his partner, Elizabeth, their dogs, cats and horses.
The majority of his work is landscape and figurative and is easily recognizable by his strong and vivacious use of colours and his unique use of light and shade. His work is in collections worldwide including USA, UK, Australia, Poland and Ukraine, and he teaches in Letterkenny and at his home. Bohdan is also a member of the Watercolour Society of Ireland and the British Watercolour Society.
