Originally a native of Enniskillen, now living in Holywood, Co. Down, Deirdre studied under Kathleen Bridle and encouraged by her gained Final Certificate (Honours) from The Royal Drawing Society London. She graduated in Art and Design (Distinction) from Stranmillis College Belfast and later studied life drawing and ceramics at Belfast Art College. She is a former head of Art and Design in Belfast Model School for Girls and is now teaching at Ashfield Boys’ High School. She enjoys painting outdoors and gains much inspiration from the beauty of natural forms. She finds the love of flowers in their own natural environment an enjoyable stimulus for many of her watercolours. Over the years she has served as committee member / council member of The Ulster Society of Women Artists, The UWS and the Arts Society of Ulster. She exhibits throughout Northern Ireland.
