Joan retired from Sullivan Upper School where she specialised in teaching art, mainly in the Prep. Department. Her work with young pupils is reflected in her paintings of children engaged in activities. She is also greatly attracted to texture and finds inspiration in old farm buildings in Donegal, Yorkshire, Co. Down and Provence. Her greatest delight is to discover an old crumbly barn and try to capture the atmosphere. Joan is also a member of the USWA where she is a diploma holder and the ASU. Her work is represented in private and public collections including Belfast Castle, Ulster Clinic and many hotels and hospitals.
